Medieval Quarter
During the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, the madina of Mula developed urbanistically becoming an impregnable fortified plaza with a splendid orchard at its feet, irrigated by the Acequia Mayor and by the natural sources that emanated from the Cabezo hill, on whose slope rose the settlement with a double enclosure of walls and turrets, one for the defense of the city and another for the albacar, a higher area to protect itself in case of siege. Above them stood the Muslim citadel, where the governors resided, also fortified and with towers protruding above the head.
Still today we can see some of these elements as part of the wall and what used to be the base of a tower, the different access doors that have been respected despite the urban constructions over time or the portillo, opened in a stretch or canvas of wall between the main doors, nowadays between houses.
