The Cross Path
The city Caravaca de la Cruz houses a Lignum Crucis, relic of the wooden cross in which they crucified Christ, who by its importance gives it the title of Holy City. Also since 1998 enjoys the Jubilee Year in perpetuum every 7 years. For this reason hundreds of pilgrims realize the Way of the Cross, with the ultimate aim in the religious sense of the jubilee to reach the “Plenary Indulgence”.
This year, the road begins in the neighboring province of Alicante, more specifically in Orihuela, also know as the route of Levante, passing through several localities of the Region, on a route of 118 kilometers, and divided into 5 stages. This road, which runs along roads not authorized to vehicles and already consolidated at the pilgrims’ passage as the greenway from Murcia to Caravaca de la Cruz, combines the religious character with culture and nature.
